Harvest season is traditionally a time to be thankful for the provision of food and for communities to recognise the efforts to grow and reap food at the end of the harvesting season.
It’s a time to reflect and give back to those who may need help. For us at Lambeth & Croydon Foodbank, it represents crucial values of gratitude for the food we receive, community values of belonging and mutual support.
This Harvest season we’re asking you to help your local community and embody the harvest values of belonging, gratitude and abundance by donating to us. We’ve launched our Harvest campaign on JustGiving and anything you can give will help us.
During this season it is important to remember the harsh reality facing the 9.3 million people in the UK going without enough food because they cannot afford it. Energy prices are rising, as are housing costs, putting individuals under more strain than ever. No one should have to choose between turning the heating on or providing their family with a meal. Lambeth & Croydon Foodbank not only provides food parcels but also dignity, support and hope in tough times. We do this by welcoming people to our hubs with a warm drink and a listening ear as well as providing wraparound support services to prevent the need to return to foodbanks in the future. To continue providing these services and to stock our food parcels we rely on kind donations from our supporters.
In the last year alone, we fed over 25,000 people, including 9054 children. We could not have achieved this without the generous contributions from our amazing supporters, whether this be monetary or food donations or volunteering your valuable time. We are ever grateful for your support.
